Un caso informado por la Administraci\u00f3n de Seguridad y Salud Ocupacional ilustra los peligros que conlleva no implementar ni seguir los protocolos de seguridad para trabajar en altura.<\/p>\n<p>Seg\u00fan <a href=\"https:\/\/www.osha.gov\/Publications\/OSHA3916.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" >OSHA<\/a>, un trabajador de un almac\u00e9n estaba apilando art\u00edculos en un estante elevado a unos 2 metros sobre el piso de concreto. Se encontraba de pie sobre un pal\u00e9 que hab\u00eda sido elevado por una carretilla elevadora, lo cual no constituye un uso adecuado ni de la carretilla ni del pal\u00e9. El trabajador resbal\u00f3 sobre el pal\u00e9 y cay\u00f3 al suelo. Falleci\u00f3 a causa de sus lesiones a los pocos d\u00edas.<\/p>\n<p>La OSHA establece que los trabajadores no deben subirse a pal\u00e9s que est\u00e9n siendo transportados por montacargas. En lugar de utilizar medios improvisados para ayudar a los trabajadores a alcanzar estantes elevados, los empleadores deben instalar andamios para que los empleados puedan acceder de forma segura a sus \u00e1reas de trabajo. Adem\u00e1s, se debe proporcionar a los empleados el equipo de seguridad adecuado, como sistemas personales de protecci\u00f3n contra ca\u00eddas. Si los empleadores van a utilizar sistemas para elevar a los trabajadores, solo deben elegir aquellos que hayan sido aprobados para ese fin por la OSHA.<\/p>\n<p>Las ca\u00eddas desde alturas se encuentran entre las principales causas de lesiones laborales.
