Seg\u00fan un informe publicado el 11 de octubre, la OMB ha allanado el camino para la publicaci\u00f3n definitiva de la norma propuesta por la Administraci\u00f3n de Seguridad y Salud Ocupacional (OSHA) sobre \u201cSuperficies de tr\u00e1nsito y trabajo y equipo de protecci\u00f3n personal (sistemas de protecci\u00f3n contra ca\u00eddas) en la industria general\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Propuesta inicialmente en 1990, la norma ha tardado mucho tiempo en elaborarse. La propuesta se reformul\u00f3 en 2010 con el objetivo de actualizar y armonizar las normas de la industria en general para reflejar las pr\u00e1cticas actuales y el consenso con las normas de la OSHA en los sectores de los astilleros y la construcci\u00f3n en la mayor medida posible. Una vez que entre en vigor, la nueva norma podr\u00eda prevenir potencialmente m\u00e1s de 3,000 lesiones y 20 muertes cada a\u00f1o, seg\u00fan las proyecciones de la OSHA.<\/p>\n<p>La norma tiene por objeto mejorar las normas generales vigentes del sector industrial, que ya reconocen el uso de barreras f\u00edsicas y barandillas en el lugar de trabajo como medios eficaces para proteger a los empleados contra tropiezos, resbalones y ca\u00eddas.
